Madhu Church: Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu
We left Anuradhapura by 6:00am, grabbed a variety of baked and fried Sri Lankan short-eats from a bakery in Anuradhapura town before heading towards Medawachchiya. We passed Rambewa, a small town on the way. Don't expect to get anything here except may be tea and bananas. Medawachchiya is a main junction. It's possible to buy local foods here. At this junction, one way takes you to Vavuniya and the other takes you via Madhu Junction to Mannar. The road is fantastic and as early as we were traveling there weren't vehicles on the road. We passed Mankulama, and Cheddikulam(Love saying these names! So foreign!). Just before you reach the Madhu Road junction you pass Paraiyalankulam and you will see a huge concrete entrance introducing you to Madhu. 47km post.
